Well it’s gone from gangbusters to breaking up the gang. Those pushing out to TP 5 left with good height but they are pushing a west head wind and coming to the TP with very little height to work with. William Pardis and Bill Belcourt tagged the turnpoint at nearly the same time, but William didn’t make it much farther and is now getting to know some cows and sage, and Bill’s sleight height advantage has paid off- he found a climb from the deck and is now tall and has a good jump on the chase pack, lead by Reavis Sutphin-Gray and Matt Dadam. Kevin Carter just sent in his L/OK quite a ways back on course line and I just got a call from Logan Walters that the reason his little dot hasn’t barely moved in 3 hours is because he tried to find a different launch than the rest did and found nada, then broke some lines. He’s hopeful he can still get back in the air. Will anyone make it to goal in Panguitch, 10 miles down course line? If they do, I have a very very large amount of ice cold beer ready for them!

After three amazing presentations from our European friends Pal Takats, Markus Anders and Aaron Durogati on Tuesday and Wednesday nights it’s time for some racing! The task has been set and at 0800 this morning task one of the 2023 Global Rescue XRedRocks gets underway!
Today’s weather presented our task committee with a really difficult decision. How to maximize the day when the day is going to be so dynamic and potentially dangerous? With the likelihood for really big cells and lots of wind, especially up high they had to pick a task that kept everyone low, and out of the terrain. They ended up setting both PRO and ADVENTURE tasks exactly the same, which started with a pretty mean 12km pound and 3600′ of gain to the first turnpoint.
