We’re doing it! It’s time for a proper hike and fly race in the wilds of Idaho this year. The race will take place May 30th-June 1st, 2025. Some quick details:
- Only 30 participants. Three categories- Challenge, Adventure and Pro.
- There is no fee for the event, but a donation of $100+ would be greatly appreciated to help cover costs like porta potties, camping donation, awards and BBQ.
- All participants are welcome to camp at the King Mountain Glider Park (Moore, Idaho) for free. Come into the glider park via 3400 North (don’t come in via the S side). Blue rooms will be provided. There is drinking water, BBQ, plenty of grass and space and a great fire pit, but bring provisions. No showers are provided.

- Membership in the Sun Valley Paragliders is appreciated ($25 for a 30 day membership)
- Registration and a mandatory safety briefing will be at 1800 mountain time Thursday May 29th. Race is May 30-June 1st (three days). Two days will be scored. We will have an informal awards ceremony and BBQ on Sunday night assuming everyone is back!
- Scoring is based on points gathered. The race will start and end each day at the King Mountain Glider Park unless weather forces us somewhere else. We have created waypoints that can be tagged in the air or on the ground at various locations close to the start and farther and farther away. Waypoints will be assigned a point value based on difficulty of tagging. Athletes MUST return to the King Glider Park (the start) on foot or by air before the race begins the next day (ie you have a maximum time of 24 hours to return), or designated time that will be briefed. A stiff penalty will be applied if you cannot make it back in the time allotted.
- The race is unsupported. Any outside assistance from the race org (retrieve, supplies, etc) will come with a points penalty. Getting supplies from local shops (gas stations, etc.) is allowed, and placing a supply cache in advance may be permitted (this is being discussed by the task committee).
- The race is free to all participants but a suggested donation of $100+ would be greatly appreciated to help us cover the costs and to support the non-profit King Mountain Glider Park Foundation.
- Waypoints in KMZ format can be dowloaded here. All other formats will be available soon.
Want to join?
